Mexican Political Scandal: Meyer Family and Rupture in Morena

The Meyer family's absence from a meeting at the Polyforum Siqueiros in Mexico City has drawn significant attention, particularly in light of recent events. Under Claudia Sheinbaum's leadership, Lorenzo Meyer's son, Román Meyer Falcón, was replaced by sociologist Edna Elena Vega Rangel and reassigned to the Secretariat of Communications and Transport. The fracture within the 'Los Puros' group was exposed by historian Pedro Salmerón, who called Román Meyer Falcón 'corrupt' due to the unfinished construction at the General Agrarian Archive (AGA). Salmerón claimed he had previously alerted 'the highest authority in the Republic' about the situation, as no one is above Román Meyer Falcón except for that highest authority. He also denounced that the AGA building has been closed for two years, is prone to flooding, yet the official in charge, Meyer Falcón, not only retained a new position but is now set to become a star on Once Noticias TV. The family's absence is linked to the installation of Morena's National Consultative Council on November 11th. Sources within Morena's national leadership suggest a rift between 'Los Puros' and the Meyers, with Lorenzo Meyer allegedly declining an invitation to the council after federal officials questioned his son's integrity. The council, comprising 76 members who have held key positions since the party's inception, will guide the leadership, party members, and authorities of the country's main obradorist party.
